A landlord can ask a tenant to pay up to four weeks rent as the bond. The bond must be lodged with Tenancy Services within 23 working days of receiving it. At the end of the end of the tenancy the bond could be used to cover any damage to the property, any claim relating to the tenancy or unpaid rent and water.
If tenants have maintained the property, paid all rent, and covered any other costs owing, they should receive their full bond back when the tenancy ends.
Tenant Finder will collect the bond from your tenants and lodge it on your behalf with Tenancy Services.
The Tenant Finder service helps self-managing landlords in the Auckland region.
